I’m coming for you.
Max Deegan has been touted as a future star for quite some time, with his form this season coming as no real surprise. Having starred for the Ireland U-20s team, being shortlisted for the underage World Player of the Year award, the back-row was awarded a senior contract over the summer.
Still only 21-years-of-age, Deegan has been touted as a future Ireland captain, and despite the insane competition in Leinster’s back-row, with the likes of Sean O’Brien, Dan Leavy, Jack Conan, Rhys Ruddock all on their books, Deegan has taken every opportunity handed to him so far.
He was given a rare start in Leinster’s inter-pro win over Connacht at the RDS yesterday and put in an excellent shift, grabbing the eastern province’s first-try, thanks to some excellent work by winger James Lowe.
In the wake of that game, a Tweet by Deegan four years ago, when he was just 17, has fittingly gone viral. In the post, Deegan calls out legendary Leinster and Ireland number eight Jamie Heaslip, letting him know that he was coming for his jersey. He wasn’t wrong.
