Wanted man.
Leinster Rugby aren’t done quite yet in the transfer market ahead of next season it seems, having already recruited the services of RG Snyman and Jordie Barrett.
The province are set to lose tighthead prop Micheal Ala’alatoa at the end of the season, with the Samoan heading to Clermont Auvergne in the Top 14, and are in the market for a backup to Tadhg Furlong.
According to Midi Olympique, the province have made an offer to sign former France international Rabah Slimani, with the 57-times capped tighthead out of contract with Clermont at the end of the season.
Despite not playing for France since 2019, the 34-year-old is still regarded as one of the very best in his position and would add a massive amount to Leinster’s already-stacked squad.
The move, however, may not go down with well with the other provinces, with the likes of Munster and Ulster previously blocked from signing NIQ props of a similar age as it may hinder the pathway of Irish talent.
Leinster already have Thomas Clarkson (24) and Paddy McCarthy (21) in their ranks to cover tighthead.
