Leigh Halfpenny could be set for a shock move to the Premiership.
Wales fullback Leigh Halfpenny is reportedly weighing up a big money move to Bath. The Toulon star’s contract is up at the end of the season with the French outfit keen to retain his services.
It’s no secret however that the WRU want the Lions star to return, home having openly admitted that they and the Cardiff Blues have offered him a dual contract. The Blues however revealed earlier this month that their are resigned to the fact that he will not be rejoining them.
Halfpenny was offered a dual-contract with the Blues and the WRU worth a reported £420,000 a year, but it is believed that the length of the deal scuppered the negotiations. A one-year extension with Toulon worth a reported £750,000 was then believed to be a done deal, but it seems Bath have now entered the race.
Neil Fissler of The Rugby Paper believes Bath have made Halfpenny a ‘big money offer’ and he is now weighing up his options.
