When it comes to the British and Irish Lions, there aren’t too many people out there more respected than former coach and player, Jim Telfer.
The Scot was head coach of the Lions when they toured New Zealand in 1983 and assistant to fellow legend Sir Ian McGeechan in 1997, a winning tour famous for his ‘Everest’ speech.
So when Jim Telfer selects his Test XV to take on the Springboks this summer – you listen.
Writing for The Offside Line, the 81-year-old has gone with five Irish players in his selection, including a midfield combination of Garry Ringrose and Robbie Henshaw with Conor Murray at nine.
Two Scottish players make his team – Stuart Hogg and Finn Russell with five Welsh and four Englishman completing his line-up.
