The latest World Rugby Rankings are out and it’s good news for Ireland who climb back into the top four following their bonus-point win over Wales at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday.
Holding onto a top-four spot is significant this year with World Rugby set to hold the draw for the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France following the 2020 November internationals.
The top four teams in the world will be the highest-seeded teams in the competition in Band 1 with Ireland now in that coveted pot as things stand alongside England, New Zealand and South Africa.
Elsewhere in a significant swap – Georgia have overtaken Italy in the rankings with the former now 12th in the world, one place above the Azzuri.
