“It’ll be nice to go down to South Africa and some nice weather when it’s p***ing rain in Galway!”
Connacht captain John Muldoon has welcomed the new PRO14 expansion that will see two South African franchises join the competition. Muldoon says it’s an exciting time to be part of it and it can only be good for the competition.
“It’s all good, it’s all part of competition,” he told RTÉ Sport.
“It’ll be exciting for the fans to go to South Africa and to see two new teams coming to the Sportsground will be brilliant.
“Exciting times ahead for the Pro14.”
Muldoon, who let Connacht to a PRO12 title the season before last, says it’ll be nice to get away from the pissing rain in Galway for a trip down south!
“South Africa fits in well with Ireland, the time zones aren’t too different,” he added
“It brings in a new audience and it brings in a wider net to Connacht and Irish Rugby so it’s only a positive.
