Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt has revealed Quinn Roux will call Ireland’s lineouts this weekend with the assistance of Peter O’Mahony.
Leinster’s Devin Toner is usually the man tasked with making sure Ireland’s set-piece runs smoothly, but with the giant lock out with an ankle injury, Roux has been handed the very important task.
Schmidt says he has no “qualms” with the relatively inexperienced Roux (at international level) calling the lineouts this weekend, revealing he’s done it “a lot” for Ireland in training.
“Quinn [Roux] will share the line out calling, probably with Pete [O’Mahony].” Schmidt said.
“There’s a fair bit of experience with Pete, but Quinn came on and did it when he replaced Dev [Toner] and I’ve no qualms about Quinn being able to call the line out. He’s done it for us a lot in training. And he’s done it a lot at Connacht.”
