A tough day for Joe Launchbury.
A lot of top class players missed out on Lions selection as was always going to be the case given the talent pool available to Warren Gatland.
No player however should probably feel more aggrieved than England’s Joe Launchbury. The lock forward was probably the standout lock at this year’s Six Nations, putting in a number of MOTM displays.
Instead his second-row partner Courtney Lawes will travel along with fellow Englishmen George Kruis and Maro Itoje and Irish lock Iain Henderson.
Launchbury however, showed his absolute class by being one of the first people to congratulate Wasps teammate Elliot Daly on his selection. No doubt Launchbury will get his chance if any injuries occur.
Congratulations @elliotdaly who will tour NZ with @lionsofficial this summer https://t.co/0BL27szTxt
