Isa Nacewa Bids Farewell To Leinster Rugby With Moving Letter

This is it.

Legendary Leinster star Isa Nacewa played his final game to the province this past weekend, and boy did he get an incredible send-off.

The New Zealand-born star won his fourth European title and couple of weeks ago and signed off in his final game by winning the inaugural PRO14 championship.

He’s had a hell of a career and will arguably go down as Ireland’s greatest ever import. And while we’ve been down this road before (Nacewa briefly retired for two seasons a few years back– this time it’s really it for the utility back.

“It should be easier second time ‘round, you would think, to write these words or to put some shape on what I am feeling as I head into the last few weeks of my time in Dublin.” Nacewa writes in a moving goodbye letter on LeinsterRugby.ie.

I’ve done this before after all. Said my goodbyes, packed my things and headed home, not knowing what lay ahead but certainly with no immediate thoughts of a return to the blue jersey on the horizon.

But this is different. This is it.

There won’t be a timeout. Time out to recuperate and to rehab and to get the mind and body right before coming back for another go.

No. Not this time. This is it. This is goodbye.”

You can read Nacewa’s lengthy letter in full here. It’s well worth a read. An absolute legend. Farewell Isa.
