Ireland are set to return to Soldier Field in Chicago this autumn, the venue where they defeated the All Blacks for the first time in 111 years of trying.
The Irish Independent are reporting that that they are in “advanced talks” to play an extra fixture in the USA this Autumn. But it won’t be the All Blacks. Instead they will face Six Nations rivals Italy.
A repeat fixture was not possible due to the All Blacks’ plans to spend two weeks in Japan before heading to Europe for their traditional end-of-season tour.
Ireland are already slated to face New Zealand on November 17, along with Argentina and a tier two nation which is yet to be confirmed.
Then fourth fixture would likely be played the first week of November.
