Update.
Ireland have confirmed that lock James Ryan is currently struggling with an adductor issue that may keep him out of this weekend’s clash with Japan and possibly the game against USA the following week.
Lions fans were surprised when he wasn’t called up to replace Alun Wyn Jones following his shoulder injury but confirmation of this injury clearly played a part in Gatland’s selection process.
The squad reassembled on Sunday evening having completed four days of training at the IRFU High-Performance Centre in Dublin before dispersing on Saturday afternoon.
Ryan’s adductor issue will be monitored across the week to determine his availability for the Japan game. Ulster’s Michael Lowry will continue to train with the Ireland squad this week.
The Ireland team to play Japan in the opening fixture of the Vodafone Summer Series will be named at lunchtime on Thursday
