Brilliant.
Ireland and Leinster playmaker Johnny Sexton was tonight named World Rugby Player of the Year 2018 after an incredible season with both club and country.
Sexton pipped previous winner Beauden Barrett, Faf de Klerk and Malcolm Marx to the award, and becomes just the second Irishman to win it after Keith Wood back in 2002.
But unfortunately he didn’t get a chance to say a few words – after losing his voice! Instead teammate Rory Best had to accept on his behalf. Well done Johnny! Get well soon.
