Here’s What We Reckon The Lions Test Team Should Look Like

The clock is ticking.

The Lions take on the Maori All Blacks this weekend and just a week later they’ll find themselves in Eden Park taking on the mighty All Blacks.

It’s been a frustrating tour so far for Gatland’s men, losing two of their four fixtures. There has been plenty of positives however, notably the Crusaders game. In that fixture the Lions had the bulk of what we feel is the Test side, and they defeated a team that had 14/14 this season.

In the grand scheme of things, all that matters is how you fair in the series and the Test team is shaping up nicely. Defeating the All Blacks was always going to be a near impossible task, but here’s the side we reckon has a chance of making history.

RugbyLAD’s Lions Test Team

11. Anthony Watson
10. Johnny Sexton
9. Conor Murray

1. Mako Vunipola
2. Jamie George
3. Tadhg Furlong
4. George Kruis
5. Maro Itoje
6. Peter O’Mahony
7. Sean O’Brien
8. Toby Faletau

Replacements:

17. Jack McGrath
18. Kyle Sinckler
19. Courtney Lawes
20. CJ Stander

The only problem is, Warren Gatland. There’s absolutely no way that’s the team he will field. The Lions head coach has a certain style he likes to play, and of course will pick certain players regardless of form. Here’s the side we reckon Gatland will field on June 24.
