Nope they weren’t photoshopped.
When tour manager John Spencer read out the 41-names selected for the British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand this summer, the first question asked by many people is how were they able to put up graphics of the players in their jerseys if it was supposed to be a surprise?
In previous tours some clever photoshop work was done, but they came prepared this time round. The Lions decided to pay a visit to the training camps of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales during the Six Nations.
Every single player was then photographed wearing a Lions jersey in front of a backdrop. They were also visited by Thomas Pink and Canterbury who measured up every player, just in case their name was read.
Imagine the feeling for the players who were so close, such as Joe Launchbury and Dylan Hartley who’s names weren’t called out. At least they have your photo and measurements if there’s any injuries!
