The British and Irish Lions got their series against the Springboks off to an excellent start at the weekend with a 22-17 win to take a 1-0 heading into the second Test.

The first half didn’t exactly go according to plan for the tourists but some of their big names really stepped after the break and turned the game on its head with a really impressive display.

A very special British & Irish Lions House of Rugby show – fronted by Sean O'Brien and Alex Goode – is available now and will run for the duration of the tour. Follow and subscribe to it HERE

Maro Itoje was immense from start to finish, Courtney Lawes looked like a man possessed in the second half, while the likes of Jack Conan, Mako Vunipola, Luke Cowan-Dickie, and captain Alun Wyn Jones also really up their game as the Lions secured a famous win.

But there is most definitely room for improvement and the Boks will be hurting after the defeat. Gatland and his team will need to make changes and we’ve identified three changes we’d make in the starting XV.

Firstly, we’d bring Maki Vunipola straight into the starting XV following his incredible performance after coming off the bench early in the second half. Secondly, we’d drop Elliot Daly, push Robbie Henshaw out to 13 and bring Bundee Aki in at 12.

And finally, despite his second half display, we’d drop Duhan der Merwe and start Liam Williams on the wing this weekend. As for the bench, we’d bring Jamie George, Wyn Jones, and Josh Adams in.
