Here Are Just Some Of The Crazy Records Set During The France & Wales Game

The game that just wouldn’t end.

Yesterday we witnessed one of the most surreal and shambolic endings to a rugby match in recent history as France overcame Wales in a thrilling Six Nations finale.

As Wales attempted to repel a late French surge while leading 18-13 in Paris with 79 minutes on the clock, little could they have known it would be more than 20 minutes before they left the pitch.

It took a clever little prop replacement (we’ll get to that later today), a yellow card for Wales, and umpteen penalties, but finally France crossed the whitewash with nearly 100 minutes on the clock in one of the craziest finishes we’ve ever seen on a rugby field.

As you’ve probably guessed, yesterday saw several records broken and several firsts on a rugby pitch. Here are just some of the incredible facts we’ve managed to pick out.

  • Prop Samson Lee was sin binned in injury time, yet came back on such was the length of time played. He becomes the first player in history to come back on after being sin binned after the 80th minute.
  • France’s winning try after 99 minutes is the latest try in Six Nations history.
  • After playing nearly 100 minutes, it is now officially the longest Six Nations match in history.

Incredible.
