England captain Dylan Hartley could be set for a Lions call-up after Welsh hooker Ken Owens picked up an ankle injury in training.
The Scarlets front-row has been ruled out of tomorrow’s game with Leinster and the final next week should his side progress.
Owens suffered an ankle injury training with the Scarlets at the beginning of the week. The Lions were informed and the hooker travelled to the Vale of Glamorgan, where the tourists have had a training camp this week, to be medically assessed.
His ankle will be examined again before the Lions fly to Dublin on Sunday for another training camp and if the verdict is that he will not be fit by May 29th, when the squad flies to New Zealand, Gatland will have a decision to make.
Should he decide to leave the Welshman at home, Hartley is the likely replacement.
