Munster were superb yesterday, but Racing didn’t exactly put up much of a fight.
Glasgow boss Gregor Townsend is clearly disappointed over yesterday’s rescheduled Champions Cup clash between Munster and Racing. The French champions made 12 changes for the game, which had become a dead rubber match thanks to Glasgow’s heroics in Scotstoun and Paris.
The Racing side however still contained a lot of talent with a back-line featuring stars like Teddy Thomas, Juan Imhoff, Casey Laulala and Joe Rokocoko. They also had experienced stars such as Chris Masoe in their pack and the small matter of Dan Carter to spring from the bench.
Racing however were on the back-foot from the opening minute and it looked like there was only going to be one winner within fifteen minutes. Munster led 25-0 as the two sides went in at half-time with Townsend saying he didn’t bother watching the second-half.
Munster and Glasgow face each other next week in a huge clash for top spot, but Townsend is clearly disappointed Racing didn’t even put up a fight.
“We watched it, the coaches, and switched it off after half-time when the result was a foregone conclusion,” Townsend told BBC Scotland.
“Munster played really well. Racing were out of the tournament. They chose to mix up their team and there was only one team that dominated the game.
“The tournament is what it is. You have to play the opposition you’re up against. We played Racing at the beginning and that’s just the way it is. We played really well to win both those games.”
Racing defence coach Ronan O’Gara is another man that was clearly not happy with Racing’s performance as can been seen in this brilliant interview after the game here
