Farewell.
Former Wales and Lions prop Gethin Jenkins bid farewell to rugby yesterday afternoon, as Cardiff made light work of a hapless Zebre side, defeating them 37-0.
Jenkins announced earlier in the week that he was to call time on his career yesterday – and he finished in some fashion with a conversion attempt in the final seconds.
The loosehead clearly didn’t have much experience when it came to kicking, and hilariously needed some help from outhalf Steven Shingler to put the ball on the kicking tee correctly.
Unfortunately the kick sailed wide, but it didn’t matter all that much. Although Jenkins was gutted!
“It was a strange feeling,” Jenkins said after the game.
“I’m gutted I missed the kick at the end. It’s the end of an era.”
“There’s a great bunch of boys here and looking forward to being on the other side.”
“We had a good crowd and they got behind us.”
“The hardest thing is I feel fine out there (on the pitch) but it’s after. Everything comes to an end and it was important I got out there.”
Check out his kick below. Farewell Gethin. Hell of a player. Hell of a career.
Thanks for the memories Gethin
