Gareth Thomas Tweets Emotional & Fitting Response To Israel Folau’s Sacking

1000 words.

Israel Folau finally learned his faith yesterday with Rugby Australia revealing they have officially terminated his four-year contract following his latest homophobic outburst.

The governing body believe they were left with no choice, after Folau refused to remove the post or back down in any way. And one man who is pleased with the outcome is former Wales international Gareth Thomas.

Thomas is an openly gay man himself, and has opened up in the past about his battles with his sexuality. He was also the victim of an horrific homophobic attack last year.

“I can tell you as a gay man myself, what I’ve been through in my life, if there was a choice, then probably at times I probably would have decided not to have been gay.” Thomas said last month when speaking about Billy Vunipola’s backing of Folau

Thomas’ response to Folau’s post last month was absolutely fantastic, but his response to the sacking might be even better, with the Welshman pointing out Folau’s sacking coincided with International Day against Homophobia & Transphobia.
