Big bucks.
It was revealed earlier this week that Glasgow Warriors international playmaker Finn Russell will be leaving the Scottish region at the end of the current campaign.
Russell will join French giants Racing 92, despite Glasgow at the Scottish Rugby Union making every effort to keep a hold of him. In truth, they were never going to be able to match the offer on the table, with Racing said to be paying Russell a staggering wage of £700,000-a-season.
Scottish rugby chief executive Mark Dodson said they could not compete with the “superstar money” on offer.
“Good luck to him, he’s a super player,” Dodson told BBC Scotland.
“There’s no recriminations from us.
“He’s been great value. He’s a superstar so let him go and earn superstar money.”
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime chance,”
“We put a big number on the table, as big as we could go, and we weren’t anywhere remotely close.
“We have to say best wishes to him, let’s hope he does a great job out there.”
