Money talks.
Finn Russell is swapping Glasgow for Paris next season after signing a deal with French giants Racing 92, worth a reported €700,000-a-season.
The talented playmaker was one of the stars of the Autumn International Series, leading Scotland to a famous record win over the Wallabies, but will not leave his native country at the end of the season to ply his trade in the Top 14.
Luckily for Scotland fans, the Scottish Rugby Union (SRU) doesn’t have a similar policy to the likes of England, Wales and Ireland, and Russell will still be available for international selection.
Commenting on the move, Russell said:
“I had the chance to play six seasons in Glasgow. But for me, for my progress, I felt it was time to change the environment. Like any rugby player, my goal is to win, I want to win titles with Racing. It is a club determined to play as many finals as possible and to win … And who has the chance to do it!”
“It’s really my main goal, and Racing has all the potential to get the Champions Cup or Top 14. I can not wait to help them win. It’s a great club, I’m looking forward to settling down and playing with my new teammates as well as working with the coaches and all the staff.”
