Paddy Jackson is set to make a swift return to rugby with French giants Clermont Auvergne said to be favourites to land the Ireland international, according to The Sunday Times.
Both Jackson and Stuart Olding were sacked by Ulster Rugby and the IRFU yesterday as a result of the fallout of their rape trial. Both players were acquitted of all charges, but had their contracts revoked nonetheless.
Clermont are in desperate need of an outhalf, after a shocking season by their standards, marred by injury. France international Camille Lopez has missed most of the season through injury, while Argentinian Pato Fernandez is short on experience.
The club has reportedly already been in negotiations with Jackson’s representatives at Esportif.
