Wales marched to a third Six Nations Grand Slam under head coach Warren Gatland yesterday in a dominating display against Ireland at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff.
After an incredible second-half turnaround against France on the opening day, Gatland’s men went on to defeat Italy, England and Scotland before sealing the slam against a hapless Ireland side yesterday afternoon.
Captain Alun Wyn Jones played a huge role in Wales’ success and is many peoples’ favourite to win Player of the Championship, but it’s this moment of pure class that has everyone talking.
As the anthems were being played yesterday Jones noticed one of the mascots was shivering with the cold given the horrible conditions and took off his jacket to wrap around the youngster. Absolutely top class from the Ospreys lock. A top player and a top man.
You probably missed this, but during the warm up and anthems, Alun Wyn Jones noticed that his 7yo ‘mascot’ was shivering in the cold and rain and wrapped him up in his training top. Am I too old at 54 to have heroes?? #WalvIre pic.twitter.com/27eIPtu1UV
