England look set to be without Anthony Watson for their Six Nations opener with France.
The Bath winger has only just recovered from a three-month layoff with a broken jaw, but his England return now looks set to be put on hold, at least for the opening game.
Watson had a scan this morning on a hamstring problem, with his chances of being fit for the opener thought to be slim. The devastating finisher is widely renowned as England’s best winger and is hotly tipped for Lions Test selection.
He is said to have picked up the injury during an England training session while the team was doing sprints.
Jones now looks set to start Jack Nowell on one wing, with Jonny May expected to take Watson’s spot on the other wing.
