Gutted.
England and Bristol Bears tighthead prop Kyle Sinckler says he is “gutted” after missing out on British and Irish Lions selection yesterday.
Sinckler was a surprise inclusion by Gatland on the 2017 tour of New Zealand, playing a key role in the tournament and impressing throughout as understudy to Ireland’s Tadhg Furlong.
But he is being left behind this time around as a surprise omission, with Gatland opting to go with Ireland’s Andrew Porter and Scotland’s Zander Ferguson as backup for Furlong on the trip to South Africa this summer.
Sinckler said it was one of the best “life experiences” to go on the last tour and has wished the players selected the very best of luck in a classy Tweet.
“Honestly gutted not to be involved,” Sinckler Tweeted.
“Appreciate the messages of support. Not a time to feel sorry for myself and blame others. Let’s get behind the squad, wishing the boys all the best.
“It was one of the best life experiences to go on the tour in 2017 – I’m so grateful I got the chance to experience that. Looking forward to watching the boys carve up.
“Go well @lionsofficial.”
