What a game of rugby.
England boss Eddie Jones has admitted that his side had once again snatched victory from the jaws of defeat after winning in sensational fashion in Cardiff this evening.
Elliot Daly’s late try snatched victory for England for a 21-16 win over Wales, despite the home side dominating the game by in large. A missed kick by centre Jonathan Davies, gifted the game to England, with Wales failing to be clinical when it mattered.
England remain unbeaten under Jones, and are still on course for a second successive Grand Slam. His side snatched victory at the death against France last week too, and the Australian reckons, this is the last time they’ll get away with it.
“We’ve used up all of our get-out-of-jail cards,” Jones said.
“At stages it looked like we were going to fade out, but we kept sticking in there.”
“Lawes right now is like a human icepack, he made that many carries and tackles and has ice all over his body, same for Launchbury. We had a young team out there today which is even more attractive for us moving forward.”
It’s all about consistency. We were a bit overeager in attack, didn’t finish out wide with long cutout passes rather than running straight,”
“Old habits come back now and again. We were too tight in defence and gave them too much room on the outside.”
A fantastic spectacle, but Wales will no doubt be wondering what could have been.
