Greed.
Israel Folau’s former teammate Drew Mitchell has made his feelings known on Twitter, after the sacked former Wallabies fullback launched a GoFundMe page in a bid to raise $3m for his legal battle against Rugby Australia.
Folau had his $4 million contract ripped up last month following a disciplinary hearing with the governing body, after he was found guilt of a “high-level breach” over a homophobic post on social media.
The 30-year-old has says he has already spent more than €56,000 of his own money in fees fighting his case – which is is now expected to rise to millions of Australian dollars.
But now he’s seeking help from the public – who he wants to pay his legal fees, and Mitchell is having none of it.
“YOU are in a fight that YOU chose to be in after YOU broke the terms of YOUR contract, the kids below are in a fight they NEVER wanted to be in & yet YOU think YOU deserve donations more than they do??!!” Mitchell wrote.
“It’s no longer about religion, it’s about YOU and YOUR greed.”
