Worrying.
British and Irish Lions boss Warren Gatland will be sweating on the fitness of Exeter back-row Sam Simmonds and Northampton outhalf Dan Biggar after both players were forced off injured over the weekend.
Simmonds went off with an ankle problem during the second half of Exeter’s 29-26 Gallagher Premiership victory over 14-man Northampton at Franklin’s Gardens on Sunday with the Chiefs yet to issue an update.
Biggar also went off in the second half after taking a knock to his chest, although that was thought to be purely precautionary.
Gatland has already lost the service of Ireland’s Andrew Porter following an injury to his toe on Friday with England’s Kyle Sinckler called up as a replacement.
