Munster have suffered a double injury blow with the news that Ian Keatley and Francis Saili sprained knee ligaments in last weekend’s win over the Cardiff Blues.
Utility back Keatley left the field after just 21 minutes, with Rory Scannell forced to slot in at outhalf, while centre Saili was forced off with just two minutes remaining.
Keatley sprained his posterior cruciate knee ligament while Saili suffered a collateral ligament sprain. Both have undergone scans and commenced their rehabilitation.
Munster’s next game isn’t until the 25th March where they face a trip to Zebre, but the province say that Keatley and Saili are currently unavailable for selection and definitive timelines on their absences haven’t been given.
Three weeks from tomorrow, Munster face Toulouse at Thomond Park in the quarter-finals of the European Champions Cup. Keatley is one of just two senior tens in the Munster team, with David Johnston perhaps in line for a call-up, should he not recover in time for Munster’s next game.
