The Barbarians have confirmed they will meet the All Blacks at Twickenham on November 4.
England had hoped to potentially hijack the fixture and potentially take the Baa Baas spot, but it has now been confirmed that the famous touring side will indeed play the All Blacks in November to mark their 125 year anniversary.
Confirmation of the New Zealand-Barbarians match, pending the approval of the NZRU board, means the All Blacks will not face England until 2018 but for the Baa Baas, it offers the invitational side a chance to face the world’s best team.
“The entire Barbarians Committee would like to thank the RFU for approving this fixture against New Zealand,” Barbarians chairman John Spencer said.
“For the record, and contrary to some recent media reports, the Barbarians have a strong and very collaborative relationship with the RFU, and any suggestion that the RFU has not acted correctly in any part of the discussions around staging this fixture is unfair and wrong. “
