Warren Gatland has named his British & Irish Lions squad.
The Kiwi coach wasn’t supposed to name his squad until April 19th, but dropped a bombshell this morning by revealing his squad in an impromptu press conference.
In an absolutely extraordinary series of events, Gatland has decided to just name the entire Wales 2017 Six Nations squad. There’s no room in his squad for the likes of Stuart Hogg, Johnny Sexton and Owen Farrell who have all been left out of his touring party.
“Ya we’ve decided to just bring the Welsh lads altogether” Gatland said.
“A lot of players will probably be left disappointed, but it’s my call at the end of the day and that’s that really.
“Wales were pretty shite at this year’s Six Nations but they beat Ireland who beat England so technically they were actually the best team and probably should have been awarded the title.”
Gatland has also decided to include 40 year-old Welsh legend Shane Williams in his squad.
“Ya Shane came back there and played a game for his local side last week and looked sharp. We thought sure we gave him a game in 2013, why not give him a game in 2017?
Sam Warburton has also been named captain even though he gave up the Welsh captaincy to regain form so he would be picked for the Lions this summer.
