Anyone have a spare lock?
Munster will be without new signing Gerbrandt Grobler until the new year after the province confirmed he has undergone ankle surgery on an injury picked up in pre-season.
25-year-old South African Grobler, who joined from Top 14 side Racing 92 during the summer as a replacement for Donnacha Ryan, sustained the ankle injury in Munster’s pre-season game against Worcester Warriors.
This now leaves Munster extremely short in the second-row department, having also lost Dave Foley to Pau during the summer. Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus noted after Saturday’s win over the Cheetahs that Munster will likely bring someone in if they can.
“I’m looking to sort it out.” Erasmus said.
“Experience is something that will help when we get into the European games so we’ll take some stock and try and make the right decisions”
