England and Saracens number eight Billy Vunipola is set to miss out on British and Irish Lions selection when Warren Gatland names his squad later today, according to a report in The Guardian.
Vunipola had a poor Six Nations campaign with England and has really struggled for form in the last few months. Exeter Chiefs back-rower and current European Player of the Year Sam Simmonds is set to get the nod over him.
Elsewhere, Elliot Daly is set to be a surprise inclusion despite also struggling for form in recent months. Daly travelled with the Lions in 2017 and played a key role but was expected to miss out in favour of a form back-three player.
But it seems his versatility has convinced Gatland to bring him to South Africa with the Saracens man able to play almost anywhere in the backline.
