A swiss-based billionaire is reportedly in talks with the PRO12 to add a German club to the competition.
Dr. Hans Peter Wild, who made his money running a global health drinks company, is set to bankroll a significant investment to fast track his hometown club RG Heidelberg into the PRO12 according to The Rugby Paper.
Wild was a special guest at the Guinness PRO12 final last week as Scarlets downed Munster. Talks are said to be ‘ongoing,’ with the businessman also one of the parties interested in taking over Stade Francais. He also created the Wild Rugby Academy in 2007.
This comes following reports that South African, Canadian and American franchises could be joining the PRO12 in a huge cross-border competition, splitting it into two conferences.
