Toulouse have signed 2015 Rugby World Cup winning prop Charlie Faumuina ahead of next season.
The 30-year-old tight head specialist was a second half replacement in New Zealand’s successful defence of their world crown at Twickenham last year.
He has won 46 caps for the Al Blacks and played for the Blues in Super Rugby since 2009.
“Toulouse has a rich history and proud record. I have only heard good things from the people I talked to who played for the club and I’m sure the fans will support me,” Faumuina said in a statement.
“I know former All Blacks have played for the club and it will be interesting to play alongside players I have come up against in the past. One thing is certain, playing in a team with so many international players will be a real honour.
“I’m sure I will enjoy the type of rugby they play. I know Toulouse is an ambitious club who aims to win titles. The Top 14 is a tough league, but I’m looking forward to play in such a competitive competition.”
The announcement of Faumuina’s recruitment comes hot on the heels of the capture of Aussie utility back Zack Holmes from La Rochelle for next season. Holmes, a former Western Province and sevens international player, joined La Rochelle in 2005 and scored 254 points in his first season in France.
