Staying at home.
Ireland named their 31-man Rugby World Cup squad yesterday afternoon – a full six days earlier than planned after a number of key selection decisions were leaked online.
Leinster lock Devin Toner was the most high-profile omission, with the likes of Jordi Murphy, Will Addison and Jack McGrath also failing to make the final 31.
The likes of Mike Haley, John Cooney, Ultan Dillane and Rory Scannell were early cuts, and there are guys like Simon Zebo and Donnacha Ryan who were not considered because they play their rugby outside of Ireland.
So that got us thinking, what would an Ireland XV made up of players not selected look like? We’ve put one together, and to be honest – it’s a pretty decent team that demonstrates the depth Ireland have. Have a look below and let us know what you think.
The Unselected Ireland XV
