World Cup winger, Nehe Milner-Skudder could be out for the rest of the season if he requires shoulder reconstruction surgery, according to Hurricanes coach Chris Boyd.
The winger was forced off during Friday’s 23-21 win over the Blues. Milner-Skudder had already missed the Hurricanes’ Round 2 loss to the Highlanders with a knee injury but now could be looking at a long-term layoff.
“We’re hopeful he hasn’t got any structural damage in his shoulder, which might mean it’s only a couple of weeks, right through to it needs a shoulder reconstruction and then he’s out for the season,” Boyd is quoted on TVNZ as saying.
It’s a potential catastrophic blow to the Hurricanes’ campaign and New Zealand’s summer tests against Wales. Milner-Skudder was one of the stars at last year’s Rugby World Cup and was named as World Rugby’s Breakthrough Player of the Year in 2015 after he helped the All Blacks to World Cup victory thanks to his seven tries throughout the tournament.
