Will he be named in the Test squad.
Iain Henderson had a poor start to his Lions tour, but the Ulsterman has improved his game ever since. The Irish forward was one of the unlucky players cast on the pitch for the first game, just days after landing in New Zealand.
A lot of players were suffering with jetlag in that game and were perhaps unfairly criticised. Since then Henderson has shown us why Gatland picked him in the first place, with his best game coming on Tuesday against the Chiefs, just days before the first Test.
It looks like Gatland will go with Itoje and Kruis in the starting line-up, but perhaps Henderson could be the right man to have on the bench for some serious impact. All Blacks legend Sean Fitzpatrick was certainly impressed with Henderson’s performance in Hamilton.
“To take the All Blacks on, you need the big men doing the work.” Fitzpatrick said.
“Iain Henderson has been outstanding. They got a penalty try but I think [Henderson] deserved that try himself.”
