Mako Vunipola gave away some needless penalties on Saturday in Wellington and may lose his place in the starting line-up to Jack McGrath as a result.
The England prop has been one of the Lions’ star performers of the tour so far, but sometimes lets himself get a little out of control and concedes some really silly penalties. If Beauden Barrett’s radar was working a little better on Saturday, the loosehead may have ended up costing the Lions the game.
Lions coach Graham Rowntree was asked about their high penalty count on Saturday and if players with poor discipline faced being dropped. Rowntree warned that may be necessary if the Lions are to pull off a famous win.
