We finished up the series this week and have been looking through some of the best moments in the series and one featuring Ireland boss Andy Farrell could be set to spark a huge debate.

Following Ireland’s famous win over England on the final day in Dublin to clinch the Grand Slam, Farrell stood up to say a few words and focused on Johnny Sexton, with the game marking his final Six Nations appearance for Ireland before his retirement last year.

Farrell brands Sexton as “the best ever Irish player to play the game” as the captain looked on sipping a beer.

“Johnny, for you, I mean… am I allowed to say this Paul? The best ever Irish player to play the game,” Farrell said of Sexton.

“100%. I know you’re shaking your head, because that’s you.

“But to be able to do it in your last game, your way, in your last Six Nations game, here at the Aviva in front of all your mates and the Irish public here, and all over the world, you’ll remember that forever.

“And we thank you for everything.”

Interesting comments from the Ireland head coach to say the least. A bold statement that is sure to spark debate.
