Late night.
Springboks lock Eben Etzebeth missed out on the World Rugby Player of the Year award last night – but we don’t think he’ll be too upset having won his second successive Rugby World Cup on Saturday night.
Etzebeth missed out to All Blacks back-rower Ardie Savea, who has has been incredible for the All Blacks the past year and is certainly a deserved winner of the award.
But Etzebeth probably isn’t too happy about on incident over the weekend, having rocked up to the awards with a somewhat questionable haircut last night.
It turns out his teammate and fellow lock RG Snyman gave him the chop at 5am that morning, presumably still up on the beer celebrating their World Cup win!
“You can look at how my hair looks,” Etzebeth said pointing to his new haircut when asked about the celebrations.
“Thanks to RG Snyman, 5 o’clock this morning! Thanks for that.”
Brilliant stuff. Don’t worry, Eben – it’ll grow back!
