Gouged.
Munster came up just short in France this evening, losing to Top 14 champions Castres by a singular point in their Champions Cup round 4 clash.
The southern province will feel they probably should have won, scuffing a number of chances in both halves. But they will also feel a little aggrieved with referee Wayne Barnes.
The Englishman and his assistant made a few questionable calls in the second half that ultimately cost Munster dearly. But in truth – that’s no excuse, the men in red should have taken their chances.
But something has to be said about this blatant eye gouge on flanker Chris Cloete in the first half. Scrumhalf Rory Kockott very well should have seen red, with the TMO and match officials failing to pick up on this…
