Wanted man.
According to Afrikaans newspaper Rapport, United Rugby Championship side the Sharks are lining up a big-money move for Springboks star Andre Esterhuizen.
Esterhuizen was part of the Springboks team that won a second consecutive Rugby World Cup in France last year and is out of contract with Premiership side Harlequins at the end of the 2024/25 season.
Due to the length of the deal, the Sharks would need to buy Esterhuizen out of his contract at the end of the season, with the report adding that they are willing to pay a transfer fee of £500,000 (R12 million).
Esterhuizen recently turned down a move to French giants Toulon, with several Japanese sides also monitoring his situation.
The Sharks are in the market for a top centre with Rohan Janse van Rensburg departing the Durban-based side for Bordeaux-Begles in the Top 14 at the end of the current season.
They are also said to be interested in bringing Springboks prop Trevor Nyakane back to South Africa, with Racing 92 opting not to renew his contract which expires at the end of the season as they look to free up some budget for the impending arrival of former England captain, Owen Farrell.
