Former Munster boss Graham Rowntree in talks for top head coach role

Former Munster head coach Graham Rowntree could be back in the hot seat before long following his shock departure from the southern province earlier this season.
Rowntree left Munster back in October after a disappointing start to the season. After joining the province in 2019, Rowntree spent three years as Forwards Coach before being appointed Head Coach ahead of the 2022/23 season.
In his first season as Head Coach, Rowntree led Munster to the URC title, the club’s first trophy in 12 years, before overseeing a top-of-the-table finish in last season’s URC campaign.
And now according to RugbyPass, Rowntree has held talks about a return to his former club Leicester Tigers, with the Premiership side expected to part ways with Michael Cheika after just one season.
Leicester are said to be keen to keep Cheika but the former Wallabies boss is keen to return home to Australia for family reasons.
Rowntree is a legend at Leicester, making 398 appearances across a 17-year playing career with the Premiership side, winning five titles, and playing in three Heineken Cup finals.
The 53-year-old also began his coaching career at the Tigers with things looking like they could come full circle for the former prop.
