Japanese World Cup star Ayumu Goromaru looks set for a huge move to Top 14 giants Toulon next season.
The Japanese fullback helped lead the Brave Blossoms to their historic victory over South Africa in England, scoring 24 of his team’s 34 points and was one of the standout performers in the tournament.
Goromaru secured himself a huge move to the Queensland Reds for the 2016 Super Rugby season following his World Cup heroics but according to today’s reports he will leaving the Australian franchise after just one season for a more lucrative deal with Toulon.
Leigh Halfpenny has already agreed to see out his contract and remain next season but has already said he will be focusing on his international career and will not be available during international periods. The two will battle it out next season regardless for the coveted fullback position with the news of Goromaru’s imminent arrival surely spelling an end to Delon Armitage’s Toulon career with a host of Aviva Premiership sides including Bath said to be interested in the Englishman.
