Not good.
England’s Rugby World Cup 2023 journey came to an end against the Springboks last night – but not without a fight.
Steve Borthwick’s side were huge underdogs heading into the game but pushed South Africa all the way, losing to a 78th-minute penalty by Handre Pollard.
The victory keeps South Africa’s dream of retaining the Webb Ellis Cup when they face the All Blacks next week but one of their players could be in a spot of trouble.
England will have until Monday to lodge a complaint after a conversation between Tom Curry and referee Ben O’Keefe was picked up, in which the flanker accuses South Africa hooker Mbongeni Mbonambi of calling him a “white c*nt.”
Mbonambi refused to shake Curry’s hand after the game as we now await if any action will be taken against the hooker.
