We’ve all had a go at putting together our team of the tournament along with almost every media outlet online and on tv.
World Rugby have today release the ‘official’ World Cup dream team and their might be a few surprises in there for some people.
Newly crowned World Rugby player of the year Dan Carter takes his place in the team, with fellow nominees Greig Laidlaw, Julian Savea, and David Pocock. Interestingly, neither Alun Wyn Jones nor Michael Hooper – who were also nominated managed to make the team. Instead, Schalk Burger, Eben Etzebeth, and Fijian Leone Nakarawa were selected.
There’s no mention of star performers like Aaron Smith, DTH Van der Merwe, Ma’a Nonu, Hooper, Jones, Scott Sio, or Richie McCaw.
