Welcome to the 1st edition of ‘The LADdown’ your weekly rugby round-up. Every week on RugbyLAD.com we’ll be giving you a quick round-up of the week’s rugby and of course have a bit of LADish banter while we’re at it. This week marks the return of the Guinness Pro12 and the Aviva Premiership while the French Galacticos played another round of throwing money off each other or the Top 14, whatever you wanna call it. The All Black Champ.. Sorry, The Rugby Championship continued also with the All Blacks taking on Los Pumas and the Wallabies taking on the Springboks. (For those of you who don’t understand- New Zealand Vs Argentina & Australia Vs South Africa respectively, now stop snooping around a rugby site pretending you know what we’re talking about)
First off lets take a look at the Guinness/Rabo/Magners/ Celtic PRO10 + 2 Italian sides.
Guinness PRO 12 Round 1 | ||||||||
Fri 5 Sep | 19:35 | Munster Rugby | 13 – 14 | Edinburgh Rugby | Thomond Park
Fri 5 Sep | 19:35 | Ospreys | 44 – 13 | Benetton Treviso | Liberty Stadium
Sat 6 Sep | 14:40 | Scarlets | 32 – 32 | Ulster Rugby | Parc y Scarlets
Sat 6 Sep | 17:00 | Connacht Rugby | 16 – 11 | Newport Gwent Dragons | Sportsground
Sat 6 Sep | 17:15 | Glasgow Warriors | 22 – 20 | Leinster Rugby | Scotstoun Stadium
Sun 7 Sep | 17:00 | Zebre | 26 – 41 | Cardiff Blues | Stadio XXV Aprile |
Munster looked poor in Thomond Park with Ian Keatley unable to hit a barn door with his kicking, the Italians got they’re usually whooping, Glasgow got some revenge against the champs, Connacht and the Dragons lit up the Sportsground (sigh) and the Scarlets and Ulster played out a thrilling Super 15 like 32 a piece scoreline. That’s the PRO12 in a nutshell this weekend LADS.
Across the pond next for the Aviva Premiership
Aviva Premiership Round 1
Fri 5th Sep 14 | 19:45 | NORTHAMPTON SAINTS | 53 – 6 | GLOUCESTER RUGBY | Franklin’s Gardens
Sat 6th Sep 14 | 14:00 | SALE SHARKS | 20 – 29 | BATH RUGBY | AJ Bell Stadium
Sat 6th Sep 14 | 14:00 | SARACENS | 34 – 28 | WASPS | Twickenham Stadium

Sun 7th Sep 14 | 14:00 | LONDON WELSH | 0 – 52 | EXETER CHIEFS | Kassam Stadium |
Saints gave Gloucester a lesson in rugby (and chopped down Billy Twelvetrees while they were at it), Bath edged out the Sharks, Saracens stung Wasps, Leicester strolled past Newcastle, Quins edged the Irish and London Welsh got a reminder from Exeter why the went straight back down the last time they got promoted to the Premiership.
The Frenchies are up next for another round of:
Montepellier brought their chequebook vs holders Castres, Toulouse forgot theirs vs Brive, Clermont & Stade had more zeros on theirs vs Racing and Bayonne respectively and Grenoble and Lyon defeated La Rochelle and Oyannax in two games of rugby.
Finally we take a look down South (the Southern Hemisphere of course) at the Rugby Championship
This is exactly what happened to the Pumas…
2 tries for the human bus that is Julian Savea (that’s 26 tries in 25 games now!) ensured the All Blacks continued their streak of beating everyone in the world week by week. They downed Argentina 28-9
Last minute drama in Perth ensured a 24-23 win for Australia versus South Africa. Rob Horne scoring the decisive try (yes before you ask Folau scored again too).
That’s it LADS! Hope you enjoyed the LADdown! We’re back again next week, and the week after, and the week after that… you get the picture.
