The Championship club look set to secure promotion to England’s top tier next season and are looking to reinforce their squad.
Saracens second-row Jim Hamilton had agreed a deal to join Irish, but is now reportedly set to hang up his boots, with de Jager now being lined up.
He has also been spotted holding talks with the Newcastle Falcons, but it is believed they have been scared away by his wage demands. De Jager only has a one-year contract with South African franchise the Blue Bulls.
